TNPSC Group 1

TNPSC Group 1 Exam is conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Services Commission(TNPSC) once in a year. TNPSC Group 1 is the topmost examination conducted by TamilNadu Public Service Commission. A lot of students appear for this most prestigious exam in Tamil Nadu. Candidates who are selected in the Group 1 exam will be recruited for a higher position in the state Government of TamilNadu. TNPSC Group 1 selection process consists of three stages. Prelims Exams, Mains Exam and Interview or Oral Test. All students have to face all three stages to get a prestigious job.

Among all exams conducted by the TNPSC, this exam is considered to be the Top-level Exam as they will be recruiting Officers who are responsible for all the managing activities in the District. So the Group 1 Examination is considered to be one of the high-level Exams and most preferred jobs among the job aspirants. The reason behind a Candidates joining as a Group 1 officer is that they will be later promoted as IAS, IPS officers in the State based on their Performance in a certain span of Years.

TNPSC Group 1 Posts are divided into two types: technical positions and non-technical positions. Among the several positions included in the Group 1 Posts are:

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification:-
1. Candidates should possess a Degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or any other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
(i).The qualification prescribed for these posts should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the order of studies 10th + HSC (or its equivalent)+ U.G. degree. 
(ii). The candidates, who have written the final year degree examination, may also apply for the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Group-I Services.
2. Preference will be given to the candidates, who possess the qualification mentioned against each of the following posts:

Police (Category – I)
A Degree or Diploma in Criminology and Forensic Science and also to those who possess National Awards for Physical Efficiency.
2. Assistant Commissioner
First Preference _ A Degree both in Commerce and Law together with a Diploma in Taxation laws.
Second Preference _ A Degree both in Commerce and Law.
Third Preference _ A Degree either in Commerce or Law together with a Diploma in Taxation laws.
Fourth Preference _ A Degree either in Commerce or Law.
3. Assistant Director of Rural Development Department Post Graduate Degree in Rural Service of the Gandhigram Rural Institute, Madurai District, Post Graduate Degree or Diploma (Extension, Sociology.

Physical Qualification:
Candidates applying for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) and District Officer (Fire and Rescue Service) must possess the following Physical qualifications:

i. For Men: Must be not less than 165 cms in Height and not less than 86 cms round the chest on full inspiration and must have a chest expansion of not less than 5 cms on full inspiration.ii. For Women: Must be not less than 155 cms in Height. The Chest measurement will not apply to them.
District Officer (Fire and Rescue Service) i. For Men: Must be not less than 165 cms in Height, 50 kgs in Weight and not less than 89 cms round the chest on full inspiration and 84 cms (normal) with not less than 5 cms chest expansion on full inspiration.ii. For Women: Must be not less than 155 cms in Height. The Chest measurement and 50 kg Weight will not apply to them
